Just like a year ago, we booked a short spring cruise vacation on MSC Fantasia from Kiel via Copenhagen and Tallinn to Helsinki. This year, we had to change the train to a bus on the way out, when there was track work going on in Sweden between Stockholm and Gothenburg. Fortunately, all Covid restrictions had been removed for this spring, so tests and certificates were no longer needed for the trip. First we headed to Helsinki by local train and from there by bus to Turku and Viking Grace from Turku to Stockholm the next morning.
Aivan kuten vuosi sitten, varasimme keväällä lyhyen risteilyloman MSC Fantasialla Kielistä Kööpenhaminan ja Tallinnan kautta Helsinkiin. Tänä vuonna jouduimme vaihtamaan junan bussiin menomatkalla, kun Ruotsissa oli ratatyöt menossa Tukholman ja Göteborgin välillä. Tälle keväälle oli onneksi kaikki Covid rajoitukset poistunut, joten testejä ja todistuksia ei enään tarvinnut matkaan. Ensin suuntasimme paikallisjunalla Helsinkiin ja sieltä bussilla Turkuun ja Viking Gracella Turusta Tukholmaan seuraavaksi aamuksi.
In Stockholm, we took a shuttle bus from the Viking Line terminal to the City terminal, where our next bus to Gothenburg left a couple of hours later. There was plenty of time to have breakfast and buy some food for the trip. Bus4you offers plus class on its buses. More spacious seats with good adjustments and leg room also significantly larger than in normal seats. The trip took about six hours and during the trip we visited many cities that we normally only drive past. From the bus station, the journey continued with Viptax to the port.
Tukholmassa siirryimme shuttle bussilla Viking Linen terminaalilta Cityterminaaliin mistä seuraava bussimme Göteborgiin läksi pari tuntia myöhemmin. Siinä oli hyvin aikaa käydä aamiaisella ja ostaa vähän matka evästä. Bus4you tarjoaa plus-luokan busseissaan. Tilavemmat istuimet hyvillä säädöillä ja jalkatila myöskin huomattavasti isompi kuin normaaleilla paikoilla. Matka kesti noin kuusi tuntia ja matkan aikana tuli käytyä monessa kaupungissa joista normaalisti ajaa vain ohi. Bussiasemalta matka jatkui Viptaxilla satamaan.
I have traveled with Stena Scandinavica many times between Gothenburg and Kiel. Very nice ro-pax ferry. Very good services, friendly crew and the best thing was the traditional buffet table in the buffet restaurant. There was a good selection of meat, fish and vegetables well prepared and all the dishes were recognizable without having to read the sign. The program for the evening was music quizzes and karaoke. In the morning, after breakfast, we started taking pictures in the Kiel fjord. MSC had organized ferry transportation from the center to the pier next to the cruise port and from there a bus had been arranged for the rest of the journey, a distance of less than a kilometer. The bus was a surprise when the Estonian Taisto bus was a shuttle bus in Kiel.
Stena Scandinavicalla olen matkustannut monta kertaa Göteborgin ja Kielin välillä. Erittäin mukava ro-pax lautta. Hyvin palveluita, ystävällinen miehistö ja mikä parasta Buffet-ravintolassa oli kunoon perinteinen buffet pöytä. Siellä oli hyvä valikoima lihaa, kalaa ja kasviksia hyvin valmistettuna ja kaikki ruokalajit oli tunnistettavissa ilman , että tarvitsi lukea kyltistä. Ilta ohjelmassa oli musiikki visailu ja karaokea. Aamulla aamiaisen jälkeen alkoi kuvien ottaminen Kielin vuonossa. MSC oli järjestänyt lautta kuljetuksen keskustasta risteilysataman viereiselle laiturille ja sieltä oli järjestetty bussi loppumatkalle, alle kilometrin matka. Bussi olikin yllätys, kun Virolaisen Taiston bussi oli shuttle bussina Kielissä.
Check-out was quick and quite routine for me, after all, this was already the fourth cruise from the Kiel cruise port. The security check was the only one where you had to wait a little longer. Soon we got on the ship and, unlike normal, the cabin wasn’t ready yet, so with our hand luggage we went straight to Zanzibar Cafeteria on deck 14. There we had lunch and after that the cabin was ready, well at least almost. towels and pool towels were missing, we didn’t get the latter until the next morning. The crew is apparently pretty minimal. A little later we got to the pool and then it was time for dinner. Six of our group got to the same table and the rest to the next table and it was gratifying to notice that all 14 Finns that I knew were on the cruise were placed at adjacent tables. Thank you all for the good traveling company.
Lähtöselvitys sujui nopeasti ja itselleni melko rutiinilla, olihan tämä jo neljäs risteily Kielin risteilysatamasta. Turvatarkastus oli ainoa missä joutui vähän pidempään jonottamaan. Pian pääsimmekin laivaan ja normaalista poiketen hytti ei ollut vielä valmis , joten käsimatkatavaroiden kanssa siirryimme suoraan Zanzibar Cafeteriaan kannelle 14. Siellä söimme lounaan ja sen jälkeen olikin hytti valmis, no ainakin lähes. pyyhkeet ja allas pyyhkeet puuttui , jälkimmäiset saimme vasta seuraavana aamupäivänä. Miehistö on ilmeisesti melko minimi määrällä. Vähän myöhemmin pääsimme altaalle ja sitten olikin päivällisen vuoro. Kuusi ryhmästämme pääsi samaan pöytään ja loput viereiseen pöytään ja oli ilahduttava huomata että kaikki 14 suomalaista jotka tiesin risteilyllä olevan oli sijoitettu vierekkäisiin pöytiin. There is a good selection of restaurants on MSC Fantasia, the main restaurant The Red Velvet for about 1200 diners, behind it Il Cerchio D´oro Restaurant, closed on this trip. Buffet restaurants Zanzibar and L´Africana on 14 decks for over 900 diners. L´Etoile, MSC Yacht Club Dedicated Restaurant on deck 15, Butcher´s Cut and La Cantina Toscana on deck 7. Aurea Spa is located on the 14th bow of the deck. Unlike larger ships, the Thermal Spa area only had saunas, no pools.

There is a two-story theater in the front. The wonderful Il Transatlantico Piano bar, Manhattan Bar, Sports Bar, L’insolito Lounge, Liquid Disco and many more.

There were enough shops here too. There were reasonable places for children and young people, but unlike the sister ship, there was no water park for children.
Kauppoja löytyi täältäkin riittävästi. Lapsille ja nuorille oli kohtuullisesti paikkoja, mutta toisin kuin sisaraluksella, täältä puuttui vesipuisto lapsille.

A year ago the route was Kiel – Tallinn – Helsinki, this year Copenhagen has been added to the route. A beautiful sunny day in Copenhagen and in the morning we even got pool towels in the cabin. After that, it was time for a sea day. An expensive day when the stores are full of good offers.
Vuosi sitten reittinä oli Kiel – Tallinna – Helsinki, tänä vuonna on Kööpenhamina lisätty reitille. Kaunis aurinkoinen päivä Kööpenhaminassa ja aamupäivällä saimme jopa allas pyyhkeet hyttiin. Sen jälkeen olikin meripäivä vuorossa. Kallis päivä , kun myymälät on täynnä hyviä tarjouksia.
After the day at sea, it was Tallinn, the last port before arriving in Helsinki. Tallinn also had wonderful weather.
Meripäivän jälkeen vuorossa oli Tallinna, viimeinen satama ennen saapumista Helsinkiin. Myös Tallinnassa oli upea sää.
Next was the last night on the ship and in the morning the return to Helsinki a week after departure. The bags had been waiting overnight in the corridor and only when we went to breakfast in the morning did the suitcases come to be picked up from the corridor. After breakfast, we headed to the meeting place, like other travelers who are staying away in Helsinki. The time to go ashore came and went, not a single crew member was seen talking during the 30 minutes. In the end, everyone probably went ashore in their own time.
But all in all a good cruise once again. But there were still a lot of small things that were better or better organized on the sister ship MSC Preziosa.
Seuraavaksi oli viimeinen yö laivalla ja aamulla paluu Helsinkiin viikko matkaan lähdön jälkeen. Laukut oli odottanut yön yli käytävässä ja vasta kun aamulla menimme aamiaiselle matkalaukut tultiin noutamaan käytävästä. Aamiaisen jälkeen suuntasimme kokoontumispiteeseen, kuten muutkin Helsingissä pois jäävät matkustajat. Maihin meno aika tuli ja meni, yhtään miehistön jäsentä ei näkynyt kertomassa 30 minuutin aikana. Lopulta varmaan kaikki menivät omia aikojaan maihin.
Mutta kaikkinensa hyvä risteily jälleen kerran. Mutta paljon oli kuitenkin kaikkia pieniä asioita, jotka oli paremmin tai järjestetty paremmin sisaralus MSC Preziosalla.
