In the spring, we booked a short cruise holiday at MSC Preziosa from Kiel via Tallinn to Helsinki. With this round, we came up with a slightly different solution for the trip to Kiel. The journey started by local train to Helsinki, where there was a mandatory Covid test, and when all six passengers had a negative test result, we continued our journey to the Olympia terminal and from there on the Silja Serenade to Stockholm.
Varasimme keväällä lyhyen risteilyloman MSC Preziosalla Kielistä Tallinnan kautta Helsinkiin. Tällä keertaa päädyimme hieman erilaiseen ratkaisuun menomatkan osalta Kieliin. Meno matka alkoi paikallisjunalla Helsinkiin , jossa oli pakollinen Covid-testi ja kun kaikki kuusi matkalla olevaa saivat negatiivisen testituloksen jatkoimme matkaa Olympia terminaalille ja sieltä Silja Serenadella kohti Tukholmaa.
In Stockholm, there were cruise ships Celebrity Silhouette and the Ambassador. We continued our journey by bus to the train station, where at least our junior think the most interesting part of the trip, the Stockholm – Hamburg night train, started. The trip was planned to take 15 hours, but in Hamburg we were almost two hours late. On the train restaurant was good, which had good reasonably priced food and drink on offer.
Tukholmassa oli risteilyaluksista vierailulla Celebrity Silhouette ja Ambassador . Jatkoimme matkaa bussilla rautatieasemalle , josta alkoi ainakin juniorin mielestä matkan kiinnostavin osuus, Tukholma – Hampuri yöjuna. Matka oli suunniteltu kestämään 15 tuntia, mutta Hampurissa olimme lähes kaksi tuntia myöhässä. Junassa täytyy kehua ravintolaa jossa oli hyvää kohtuu hintaista ruokaa ja juomaa tarjolla.
In the morning when we arrived in Hamburg. From there, the journey was to continue directly to Kiel, but there was an announcement that the train was leaving Altona instead of the main station, where a local train was to be taken. We got to Altona and changed trains there. The train on the route was a positive surprise. Then we were in Kiel. From where our previous cruise on MSC Seaview also began.
Aamulla kun saavuimme Hampuriin. Sieltä matkan piti jatkua suoraan Kieliin, mutta siellä tuli ilmoitus, että juna lähteekin pääaseman sijaan Altonasta , minne piti ottaa paikallisjuna. Pääsimme Altonaan ja siellä vaihdoimme junaa. Reitin juna oli positiivinen yllätys. Sitten olimmekin Kielissä. Josta myös edellinen risteilymme MSC Seaview:llä alkoi.
From the center of Kiel we are looking for the right local bus to the port with about twenty others on board the ship. Then it was time to get on the ship. At check-in, Covid test certificates, Covid vaccination certificates and insurance were checked. About an hour later we were already on board.
Kielin keskustasta etsimme oikean paikallisbussin satamaan noin kahdenkymmenen muun laivalle matkalla olevan kanssa. Sitten olikin aika siirtyä laivalle. Lähtöselvityksessä tarkastettiin Covid-testi todistukset, Covid-rokotustodistukset ja vakuutus. Noin tuntia myöhemmin olimmekin jo laivassa.
The MSC Preziosa is a vessel originally commissioned by the Libyan national shipping company GNMTC from STX France and based on MSC’s Fantasia class. The original name was Phenicia. Construction of the ship was suspended with the Libyan revolution. STX sold the vessel to MSC Cruises and the unfinished vessel was modified to match the MSC Divina, a slightly larger version developed from the Fantasia class. The ship is 333.33 meters long, 139,000 GT, 4,345 passengers, 1,370 crew and 18 decks. MSC Preziosa has operated mainly in the Mediterranean, the Caribbean and Northern Europe.
MSC Preziosa on alun perin Libyan kansallisen varustamon GNMTC:n STX Francelta tilaama alus joka perustui MSC:n Fantasia-luokkaan. Alkuperäinen nimi oli Phoenicia. Aluksen rakentaminen keskeytettiin Libyan vallankumouksen myötä. STX myi aluksen MSC Cruisesille ja keskeneräinen alus muokattiin vastaamaan MSC Divinaa, joka on Fantasia luokasta kehitetty hieman suurempi versio. Alus on 333,33 metriä pitkä, 139 000 GT , 4345 matkustajaa, 1370 miehistöä ja 18 kerrosta. MSC Preziosa on operoinut enimmäkseen Välimerellä, Karibialla ja Pohjois Euroopassa.

There is a good selection of restaurants on the MSC Preziosa, the main restaurant The Golden Lobster for over 1,300 diners, behind it is the L’Arabesque Panoramic Restaurant. Buffet Restaurants on the Inca and Maya 14 decks for nearly 1,000 diners. La Palmeraie, MSC Yacht Club Dedicated Restaurant with 14 decks, Galaxy Restaurant with 16 decks.
Ravintoloita MSC Preziosalta löytyy hyvä valikoima, pääravintola The Golden Lobster yli 1300 ruokailijalle, sen takana L’Arabesque Panoramic Restaurant. There is perhaps an even better selection of bars and lounges than food restaurants. Large theater in the bow, several dance halls, various bars indoors and outdoors.

Next was the last night by boat and in the morning I returned to Helsinki a week after leaving. Poor looking cruise port in Helsinki. Does not give a good first impression to tourists arriving in the city.
Seuraavaksi oli viimeinen yö laivalla ja aamulla paluu Helsinkiin viikko matkaan lähdön jälkeen. Surkean näköinen risteilyalussatama Helsingissä. Ei anna hyvää ensi vaikutelmaa kaupunkiin saapuville matkailijoille.
