Finally, almost two years after the previous “real” cruise on the MSC Grandios, the next cruise was finally successful. In the meantime, there were reservations for MSC Preziosa, Astor, Columbus and MSC Virtuosa and they were all canceled due to Covid.
Viimeinkin kun lähes kaksi vuotta oli kulunut edellisestä “oikeasta” risteilystä MSC Grandiosalla onnistui viimeinkin seuraava risteily. Tässä välissä oli varauksia MSC Preziosalle, Astorille , Columbukselle ja MSC Virtuosalle ja ne kaikki peruuntui Covidin vuoksi.
Our cruise was booked for Norwegian fjords, but due to Norwegian travel restrictions, the destination changed to the Baltic Sea. Departure from Kiel and places to visit in Visby, Nynäshamn, Tallinn and Warnemünde. We booked flights for the first time from Lufthansa to Hamburg. Trips from Hamburg to Kiel were taken by Kielius bus.
Risteilymme varattiin Norjan vuonoille, mutta Norjan matkustusrajoitusten vuoksi kohde vaihtui Itämerelle. Lähtö Kielistäja käyntikohteina Visby, Nynäshamn, Tallinna ja Warnemünde. Lennot varasimme ensimmäistä kertaa Lufthansalta Hampuriin. Hampurista Kieliin matkat hoitui Kieliuksen bussilla.
There was a railway strike in the Hamburg area, which caused our bus to be 1.5 hours late, too. But we still got to Kiel in time. There were more detailed inspections in the port before entering the ship. for example, the Covid test. The departure clearance, however, went quickly and less than an hour later we were already on board.
Hampurin alueella oli rautatielakko, joka aiheutti sen, että meidän bussimmekin oli 1,5 tuntia myöhässä. Mutta silti pääsimme ajoissa Kieliin. Satamassa oli normaalia tarkemmat tarkastukset ennen laivaan pääsyä. mm. Covid testi. Lähtö selvitys kuitenkin sujui nopeasti ja alle tuntia myöhemmin olimme jo laivassa.
As a ship we had the MSC Seaview, another Seaside-class vessel. I have wanted to visit these before, but now came the opportunity. The design of the ships differs considerably from more traditional cruise ships and as one of my friends put it, the car manufacturer’s ad slogan “Everything else feels old-fashioned after this” and that’s true of Seaview. Not much was invested in the cabin this time, because it was possible to cancel the trip until the end. But even the basic inner cabin provided good space and all the necessary equipment.
Laivana meillä oli MSC Seaview , toinen Seaside-luokan alus. Näillä olen halunnut jo käydä aiemminkin mutta nyt tuli siihen mahdollisuus. Alusten design eroaa huomattavasti perinteisemmistä risteilyaluksista ja kuten yksi kaverini totesi niin auton valmistajan mainos slogania mukaillen “Tämän jälkeen kaikki muu tuntuu vanhanaikaiselle” ja se kyllä pitääkin paikkansa Seaview:n osalta. Hytiin ei tällä kertaa panostettu paljoa , koska oli kuitenkin loppuun asti mahdollista matkan peruuntuminen. Mutta perus sisähyttikin tarjosi hyvin tilaa ja kaikki tarvittavat varusteet.
Deck 20 has a Zip-line Panorama Pool over the deck and a sports field.

On deck 19 is located at the bow of the MSC Yacht Club Sundeck and then the Top 19 private sun deck and then the normal sun deck, a total of six hot tubs can be found on the 19th deck and one pool. In addition, you will find the middle floor of the Forest Aquaventure Park and the Miramar Bar.
Kannella 19 sijaitsee keulassa MSC Yacht Club sundeck ja sen jälkeen Top 19 yksityinen aurinkokansi ja sen jälkeen normaali aurinkokansi, kaikkiaan kuusi poreallasta löytyy 19. kannelta ja yksi uima-allas. Lisäksi löytyy keskimmäinen kerros Forest Aquaventure Parkista ja perään päin Miramar Bar.
Deck 18. In the bow you will find the MSC Yacht Club Restaurant and then the YC cabins. In the middle is the Jungle Pool Lounge. At the rear you will find Forest Aquaventure Park and for children Doremiland.
Kannen 18 keulasta löytyy MSC Yacht Club Restaurant ja sen jälkeen YC hyttejä. Keskellä sijaitsee Jungle Pool Lounge. Takaosasta löytyy Forest Aquaventure Park ja lapsille Doremiland.
Deck 16: Bow Yacht Club Restaurant and Cabins. Next are Specialty Restaurants at Butcher’s Cut, Ocean Cay Restaurant by Ramón Freixa, Teppanyaki, Asian Market Kitchen by Roy Yamaguchi. After them on the same deck are another Buffet restaurants and Panorama Pool pools. At the back is the Bridge of Sighs.
Kansi 16: Keulassa Yacht Club Restaurant ja hyttejä. Seuraavaksi on erikoisravintolat Butcher’s Cut, Ocean Cay Restaurant by Ramón Freixa, Teppanyaki, Asian Market Kitchen by Roy Yamaguchi. Niiden jälkeen samalla kannell aon toinen Buffet ravintoloista ja Panorama Pool altaat. Takimmaisena sijaitsee Bridge of Sighs.
Most of the ship’s cabins are located on decks 9-15.

On deck eight is the ship’s specialty Waterfront Boardwalk and its center Infinity Bridge. It is a wide outer deck that wraps around both sides and sterns of the ship. There are terraces for several restaurants and the Aurea SPA outdoor area at the bow. From the bow on the deck is the Aurea Spa and MSC Gym, followed by The Piazza with The Gallery and on the outskirts the Seaview Lounge and Sports Bar. The atrium is surrounded by shops, MSC Excursions and L’Atelier Bistrot. The entire back of the deck includes the Marketplace Restaurant & Buffet.
Kannella kahdeksan sijaitsee laivan erikoisuus Waterfront Boardwalk ja sen keskellä Infinity Bridge. Kyseessä on leveä ulkokansi joka kiertää laivan molemmat kyljet ja perät. Siellä sijaitsee useiden ravintoloiden terassit ja keulassa Aurea SPA:n ulkoalue. Keulasta alkaen kannella sijaitsee Aurea Spa ja MSC Gym , niiden jälkeen The Piazza jossa The Gallery ja laidoilla Seaview Lounge ja Sports Bar. On deck seven is located the two-story Odeon Thetre at the bow. After that comes Platinum Casino. The Atrium is surrounded by the Champagne Bar and shops. At the back of the deck is Haven Lounge, F1 Simulator, entertainment games. Outside are the Sunset Beach Pool & Bar and Venchi 1878 Gelato & Crêperie.

On the deck 6. behind theater is Piazza Grande, the Shop Archade and the Venchi 1878 Chocolate Bar. The atrium houses the Shine Bar, MSC Excursions and shops. At the stern of the ship is second of the ship’s main restaurants, the Silver Dolphin Restaurant.
Kannella kuusi teatterin takana sijaitsee Piazza Grande, Shop Archade ja Venchi 1878 Chocolate Bar. Atriumilla sijaitsee Shine Bar , MSC Excursions ja kauppoja. Laivan takaosassa sijaitee toinen laivan pääravintoloista Silver Dolphin Restaurant.
Deck five is the lowest of the main decks for passengers. There are exterior and interior cabins in the bow. In addition, the Art Gallery and Photo Gallery are located here. The midship has an Atrium, Seaview Bar and Guest Service counters. At the stern is the larger main restaurant Golden Sand Restaurant. On deck four is the hospital and entrance to the ship.
Kansi viisi on alin pääkansista matkustajille. Keulassa on ulko- ja sisähyttejä. Lisäksi Art Gallery ja Photo Gallery sijaitsevat täällä. Keskilaivassa on Atrium, Seaview Bar ja Guest Service tiskit. Peräosassa suurempi pääravintola Golden Sand Restaurant. Kannella neljä sijaitsee sairaala ja sisäänkänti laivaan.
The first day of the trip was for a long time more than a boring transition to the destination. Had to find out in advance all the necessary certificates and insurances, etc .. on top of all the normal arrangements. The journey began a little sluggishly when the second engine of the plane did not start. Well, 15 minutes later, a new software had been installed and the journey could continue … And the system did not crash in the middle of the journey. The change of plane in Munich went smoothly and the journey continued to Hamburg and so did the suitcases. There was a small problem in Hamburg when the pre-booked bus service did not arrive. after a long wait we already hung up with a taxi driver for a 150 euro gig in Kiel. But as in the movies, that’s when our bus arrived and we were spared extra money. To get to the harbor we still had to take a taxi when MSC Seaview is way too big for the downtown cruise terminal. It was quite a taxi ride. Electric Auris at its best took a 104 km / h pace in the downtown area. However, we arrived intact. Check-in was much more accurate than usual, first there was an inspection of the necessary Covid certificates and temperature measurement, then there was a check-in which also checked the appropriate travel insurance for Covid, then a Covid quick test and then a normal security check and then we were ready to board. It took about an hour of all that time. Quite reasonable. Next, moving into the cabin, where there was a pleasant surprise with the message that the double vaccinated are allowed to go ashore freely. Next was a little lunch at the Buffet and then rescue drills, this time consisting of a route to the rescue station and a safety video to watch on the cabin TV. In the end, I went to explore the ship.
Matkan ensimmäinen päivä oli pitkästä aikaa muutakin kuin tylsä siirtyminen kohteeseen. Täytyi ennakkoon selvittää kaikki tarvittavat todistukset ja vakuutukset jne.. kaikkien normaalien järjestelyiden päälle. Matka alkoi hieman nihkeästi, kun ensimmäisen osuuuden lentokoneen toinen moottori ei käynnistynyt. No 15 minuttia myöhemmin oli uusi softa asennettu ja matka pääsi jatkumaan… Eikä järjestelmä kaatunut kesken matkan. Münchenin koneen vaihto sujui ongelmitta ja matka jatkui Hampuriin ja niin saapui matkalaukutkin. Hampurissa tuli pieni ongelma vastaan , kun ennakkoon varattua bussivuoroa ei näkynyt. pitkän odottelun jälkeen jo tingimme taksikuskin kanssa 150 euron keikan Kieliin. Mutta kuin elokuvissa juuri silloin bussimme saapui ja säästyimme ylimääräiseltä rahan menolta. Satamaan päästäksemme piti vielä mennä taksilla perille , kun MSC Seaview on aivan liian suuri keskustan risteilyterminaaliin. Oli melkoinen taksimatka. Sähkö-Auris parhaimmillaan otti 104 km/h vauhtia keskusta alueella. Pääsimme kuitenkin ehjänä perille. Lähtöselvitys oli tavallista huomattavasti tarkempi ensin oli tarvittavien Covid todistusten tarkastus ja lämpötilan mittaus , seuraavaksi oli check-in jossa myös tarkastettiin sopivat matkavakuutukset Covidin varalle , sen jälkeen Covid pikatesti ja sitten vielä normaali turvatarkastus ja sitten olimmekin valmiita siirtymään laivaan. Kaikkinensa aikaa siinä kului noin tunti. Aivan kohtuullista. Seuraavaksi siirtyminen hyttiin, jossa oli iloisena yllätyksenä viesti , jonka mukaan tupla rokotetut saavat mennä maihin vapaasti. Seuraavaksi vähän lounasta Buffetissa ja sitten pelastusharjoitukset , jotka tällä kertaa koostui reitistä pelastusasemalle ja hytin TV:stä katsottavasta turvallisuusvideosta. Loppuilta menikin laivaan tutustuessa.
Next was the day of the sea and more time to get acquainted with the ship’s services. Bornholm was bypassed during the day and Öland later in the evening.
Seuraavana oli vuorossa meripäivä ja enemmän aikaa tutustua laivan palveluihin. Bornholm ohitettiin päivällä ja Öland myöhemmin illalla.
On the third day of the cruise, the destination was Visby on Gotland. As always, there is plenty to see in Visby. Sometimes you have to travel around the island with the car more widely. There was quite a lot of walking during the day.
Risteilyn kolmantena päivänä kohteena oli Visby Gotlannissa. Kuten aina Visbyssä riittää nähtävää. Joskus täytyy auton kanssa lähteä kiertämään saarta laajemmin. Päivän aikana tuli käveltyä melko paljon.
On the fourth day, it was Nynäshamn’s turn in Sweden. Since it was of no use to us to pay almost 100 euros to see Stockholm, we decided to stay in Nynäshamn. After a quick walking tour, we returned to the ship and mainly focused on photographing the car ferries to Stena, DG and Polferries. In the evening, under the guidance of the butler, we visited the ship’s specialty restaurants.
Neljäntenä päivänä vuorossa oli Nynäshamn Ruotsissa. Koska meille ei ollut mitään hyötyä maksaa lähes 100 euroa Tukholman näkemisestä päätimme jäädä Nynäshamniin. Pikaisen kävelykierroksen jälkeen palasimme takaisin laivalle ja lähinnä keskityimme kuvaamaan Stenan, DG:n ja Polferriesin autolauttoja. Illemmalla tutustuimme hovimestarin johdolla laivan erikoisravintoloihin.
On the fifth day of the cruise, it was Tallinn’s turn. Again, we didn’t have a very big need to visit anywhere, so we decided to visit the nearest mall and return to the ship. Tallinn’s new cruise terminal is wonderful. The rest of the day was spent photographing the ship and especially the AIDAaura laid up next to us.
Viidentenä risteilypäivänä oli vuorossa Tallinna. Jälleen meillä ei ollut kovin suurta tarvetta vierailla missään, joten päätimme käydä parissa lähimmässä ostoskeskuksessa ja palata laivalle. Tallinnan uusi risteilyterminaali on upea. Loppu päivä meni laivaa kuvatessa , varsinkin vieressä makuutettuna olevaa AIDAauraa.
The sixth day was again a sea day between Tallinn and Warnemünde. Time to eat well, in the hot tub and theater.
Kuudes päivä oli jälleen meripäivä Tallinnan ja Warnemünden välillä. Aikaa syödä hyvin, porealtaalle ja teatteriin.
On the seventh day of the cruise, it was Warnemünde’s turn in Germany. A large part of the ship’s 2,400 passengers were left out here. Like Kiel, Visby and Nynäshamn, I had last visited Rostock almost 10 years earlier. We decided to take a sightseeing boat from Warnemünde to Rostock and after a short city tour back to Warnemünde. After a short walk in Warnemünde we headed back to the ship. Last night on the ship, so it was time to make gift shopping and I guess I got a new best friend from the Logo Shop salesman 😀 There were really few passengers on the ship between Rostock and Kiel.
Risteilyn seitsemäntenä päivänä oli vuorossa Warnemünde Saksassa. Täällä jäi pois iso osa laivan 2400 matkustajasta. Kuten Kiel, Visby ja Nynäshamnissa, Rostockissakin olin vieraillut edellisen kerran lähes 10 vuotta aiemmin. Päätimme ottaa sightseeing veneen Warnemündestä Rostockiin ja lyhyen kaupunki kierroksen jälkeen takaisin Warnemündeen. Pienen kävelyretken jälkeen Warnemündessä suuntasimme takaisin laivalle. Viimeinen ilta laivalla , joten oli aika tehdä tuliaisostokset ja taisin saada Logo Shopin myyjästä uuden parhaan kaverin 😀 Rostockin ja Kielin välillä laivalla oli todella vähän matkustajia.
Day eight and return home. In the morning after breakfast it was time to leave the ship. We were in Kiel the morning of the day before returning to Hamburg. There was a flight from Hamburg to Frankfurt and from there on to Helsinki, where we arrived in the morning the next day. Once again, flights at Lufthansa worked well and all entry formalities were quickly completed in Helsinki. It was really a pleasure to be on the trip for a long time.
Päivä kahdeksan ja kotiin paluu. Aamulla aamiaisen jälkeen oli vuorossa laivastapoistuminen. Olimme aamu päivän Kielissä ennen paluuta Hampuriin. Hampurista oli lento Frankfurtiin ja sieltä edelleen Helsinkiin , jonne saavuimme aamuyöllä seuraavana päivänä. Jälleen kerran Lufthansalla lennot toimi hyvin ja kaikki maahantulo muodollisuudet oli nopeasti hoidettu Helsingissä. Oli todellakin ilo olla reissussa pitkästä aikaa.
