17/8/1960M/S Vesterålen assisted M/S Barøy. The day before, the M / S Barøy suffered an average, it ran aground. The repairs will be carried out at the Harald Olsens Mekaniske Verksted shipyard. There are two pumps on board the ship that drive a hydraulic electrical system (CA.ME.WE) to control the rotating propellers. None of the pumps are in operation during normal travel along the coast. They are only in operation in the ports during the turning process. However, only one pump runs on these days. The captain starts the turning maneuver in the harbor at Honningsvåg.
