30/8/1979All ships of the BDS are sold to the TFDS.
30/3/1982The ship ran aground at Vetegjøgraskjæret, Fedje (north of Bergen) at full speed. A storm makes navigation difficult. The ship is heading north. None of the 91 passengers were harmed. However, these must leave the ship. The next day the coast guard ship “Nordsjøbas” tows the M/S Nordlys to Bergen.
15/5/1982Back in Hurtigruten service.
23/2/1983Last arrival to Bergen. Laid up for sale.
5/1983Sold to Johannes Klovning, Haugesund, Norway.
Used as accommodation ship on Bohrinselvarvet, Stavanger.
11/1983Sold to Torkel Alendal, Haugesund, Norway.
Towed to Karmsund Værft, Karmøy.
1984Sold to A/S Preco, Oslo, Norway.
3/1986Used as accommodation ship in NUTEC, Laksevåg, Norway.
Later towed to Florvåg, Askøy.
1987-88Rebuild in Bismo Engineering
13/4/1988Fire broke out when ship was rebuild. Declared as Construction Total Lost.
4/1988Sold to Teenas A/S, Tønsberg, Norway for scrapping
31/5/1988Sink under towing 100 km from Island Texel on her way scrapping to Bilbao, Spain.
